Half of the bread being sold in grocery markets are baked on the Mainland, frozen and shipped to Hawaii. These breads are thawed out and put on the shelves, with the appearance of being baked in Hawaii.

Love's Bakery prides itself in being a locally owned and operated company. We continue the tradition of baking fresh bread set by Robert Love in 1851, even flying the bread overnight to ensure the Neighbor Islands get the same freshness that Oahu gets.
Guaranteeing freshness is not an easy or inexpensive way to operate; however, it is what we have been doing for 160 years.

These bread labels are baked on the Mainland and shipped frozen to Hawaii: Oroweat, Country Hearth, Sara Lee and Cascade Pride.
